Title

Decolonising Psychology: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing

Abstract

Decolonising psychology involves the emergence of an Indigenous psychology. The APA Taskforce on Indigenous Psychology defines Indigenous psychology as “…an intellectual movement across the globe, based on the following factors:

  1. A reaction against the colonisation/hegemony of Western psychology.

  2. The need for non-Western cultures to solve their local problems through Indigenous practices and applications.
